How it works
- 1 Enter the IBAN, the Leitweg-ID or the VAT ID, or all three.
- 2 Spaces and hyphens don't matter, they are ignored during the check.
- 3 Start the check. Structure and check digits are checked in Germany, nothing is stored.
- 4 For each number you see valid or invalid, with a note on what is wrong if there is a typo.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to my input?
Your input is transferred encrypted and processed in Germany only for this one conversion. It is deleted right after the result is delivered; the content is neither stored nor analyzed. For very sensitive documents, we recommend our tools where the file stays on your device, such as “Redact patient data”.
Does valid mean the account really exists?
No. The tool checks structure and check digits so that typos stand out. It does not tell you whether an account exists or a VAT ID has been issued. VAT IDs are confirmed by the German Federal Central Tax Office or the EU's VIES service.
Are there limits on file size or page count?
Yes, so the tool stays free for everyone: up to 10 MB per file. On top of that there is a generous daily allowance. Once it is used up, you can continue the next day.
