Redact PDF, text is removed
Redact names, numbers and other terms. Every match is removed from the file, not just covered up. Still, check the result yourself: anything the search doesn't find, like a different spelling or text inside an image, stays visible.

How it works
- 1 Drag your PDF into the box or choose the file, also straight from Google Drive or Dropbox.
- 2 Enter the terms that should disappear, such as names, addresses or an IBAN. Every match is redacted.
- 3 Start processing. Your file is transferred encrypted and processed in Germany.
- 4 Download the result. Done, no sign-up and no watermark from us.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to my files?
Your file is transferred encrypted and processed in Germany only for this one conversion. It is deleted right after the result is delivered; the content is neither stored nor analyzed. For very sensitive documents, we recommend our tools where the file stays on your device, such as “Redact patient data”.
Is the text really gone afterwards?
Yes. Each page is rebuilt as an image and the matches are blacked out. The original text is no longer in the file, not even hidden under the black bar. The trade-off: the result is no longer searchable. Only what the search finds gets blacked out, so look over the result before you pass it on.
Are there limits on file size or page count?
Yes, so the tool stays free for everyone: up to 15 MB per file and up to 50 pages. On top of that there is a generous daily allowance. Once it is used up, you can continue the next day.
Is the tool free?
Yes. All tools on Gatefrog are free to use, with no sign-up, no installation and no watermark from us.
