Is Gatefrog really free?
Yes. Every tool is free: no hidden costs, no trial and no watermark from us on your files. To keep it that way, a few tools have a generous daily limit.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can use every tool right away. No registration, no sign-in, no email address.
Are my files safe?
With 73 of 107 tools, your file never leaves your device. With the rest, it's encrypted in transit, processed in Germany for that one conversion only and deleted right after. Each tool page tells you which one applies.
Are my files stored?
No. With some tools, your files never even reach us. With the rest, the file is deleted as soon as you get your result, and its content is never stored or analyzed.
Which file formats are supported?
PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint (plus ODT, ODS, ODP), images like JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and TIFF, emails as .eml, e-books as EPUB, and HTML, Markdown and plain text. Each tool's page lists the formats it accepts.
Is there a file size limit?
If your file stays on your device, the limit mostly depends on your device. Files up to 100 MB work reliably. For the other tools, the limit is 10, 15 or 20 MB depending on the tool, and PDFs also have a maximum page count. Each tool page lists the exact limits.
Do I need to install software?
No. All you need is an up-to-date browser. No installation, no plugins. If you like, you can add the site to your desktop or home screen as an app in Chrome or Edge.
Does Gatefrog work on my phone?
Yes. The site is built for phones, tablets and desktops. With very large files, some tools run slower on older phones, because your device does the work.
What about privacy?
We process as little data as possible: no account, no permanent storage of your files, and any processing on our end happens in Germany only. Full details are in our privacy policy (in German).
Which browsers are supported?
The latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
