The 1080×1920 format at a glance
The Instagram Story is the vertical full-screen format for short-lived, up-to-the-minute content. It disappears after 24 hours. At 1080×1920 pixels it fills the entire phone screen. Stories and Reels share the same 9:16 ratio, so one crop works for both.
What it's good for
- Behind-the-scenes shots, polls and countdowns for everyday posting
- Reels made from existing vertical video footage
- Product teasers with room for stickers and a link at the top
Common mistakes
- Putting key subjects in the top or bottom fifth, where the profile name and controls sit
- Squeezing landscape images into portrait instead of cropping them cleanly to 9:16
- Using text that is too small, even though Stories are viewed almost only on phones
How it works
- 1 Drag your image into the box or choose it: JPG, PNG, WebP and other common formats.
- 2 Move and resize the frame until the crop fits. The aspect ratio 9:16 is fixed, and “Auto-center” finds the subject on its own.
- 3 Choose the file format (JPG, PNG or WebP) and the quality if needed.
- 4 Download the image at exactly 1080×1920 pixels, ready to upload.
Frequently asked questions
What size is the Instagram Story?
The recommended size is 1080×1920 pixels with an aspect ratio of 9:16. Your image is downloaded at exactly this size.
Will my image be distorted?
No. The aspect ratio is fixed, you only choose the crop. If your subject doesn't fit the format at all, “Fit” places the whole image inside and fills the edges with a blurred version of the image.
Do location and camera data stay in the image?
No. When saving, metadata such as EXIF, GPS location and camera info is removed automatically. That protects you when you share images publicly.
Are my images uploaded?
No. With this tool, your image never leaves your device.
Is the tool free?
Yes, with no sign-up, no installation and no watermark from us.
